Will of Amy LAWES Spinster of Dorchester

In the Name of God Amen I Amy LAWES of Dorchester in the County of Dorset Spinster do take this opportunity to make my Will

First I Will and devise that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and discharged and after payment thereof I Give and bequeath all the residue of my goods chattels and personal estate (having no real estate) unto my daughter Mary her executors administrators and assigns for ever and I do hereby appoint her executrix of this my said Will

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixth day of September one thousand seven hundred and Fifty one

Administration Granted:-

You shall swear that this is the last Will and Testament of the within named Amy LAWES your late mother deceased, that you will faithfully perform the same by paying her debts and legacies so far as her goods chattles and credits will thereunto extend and the Law charge you. That you will make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all the Goods Chattles and Credits that shall come to your Hands posession or knowledge and exhibit the same into the Registry of the Archdeacon of Dorset and pass a just and true Account thereon when thereunto lawfully required - So help you God

September 2nd 1755 Mary, the daughter of the within named Amy LAWES was sworn in the words of the above mentioned oath before me John HUBBOCK Surrogate.
Genealogical Notes:-

(1) Amy LAWES was buried at Holy Trinity Church in Dorchester on 1st September 1755

(2) Amy LAWES had two illegitimate children baptised at Holy Trinity Church Dorchester:- (1) John LAWES 29th January 1719/20 who was buried still a young man at HT on 18th November 1737 and (2) her surviving daughter Mary the beneficiary of the above Will who was baptised at Holy Trinity Church on 23rd March 1721/2.
