[A scan of the GRO suggests he was probably born in the district of Yeovil Somerset see GRO births 1857 Q4 Ref 5c/495 but would need to be checked. I cannot trace a marriage for a Joseph Ringwell Chant but a Joseph Chant married a Martha Stroud in Yeovil Somerset see GRO 1848 Q2 Ref 10/1001]

[Note:- On 15th Feb 1908 at the age of 25 he applied to become a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. His application confirms that he was born on 16th Aug 1882 at Dorchester in Dorset and attended the Dorchester Grammer School (modern side) from 1893 to 1897 under the Master Herbert Napier Kingdom MA (1849-1938). He was apprenticed as an Engineer to Messrs Cosens & Co Ltd Marine General Engineers at Weymouth from Oct 1897 to 1902. He received a technical education in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics at the City and Guilds Technical College Finsbury where he was awarded a College Certificate 1902/3. He was a draghtsman in the Chief Engineers Office HM Dockyards Chatham 1904/5 and at Messrs WH Allen & Son in 1905 and The British Xylonite Co Brancham West Manningtree im 1906.]

[Note:- Edgar Lionel Cecil Gynell was buried at the Civic Cemetery in Dorchester 26th April 1888 (no age given) son of George Augustus Gyngell a Photographic Artist. Note prior daughter Ethel Florence Kate baptised St Peters 03 Jan 1886 and later another daughter Hilda Nellie Malvene bap St Peters 20 Apr 1890. Elizabeth the mother gave birth to another unnamed son who was buried at the CC on 26th June 1891. Elizabeth aged 41 was also buried there 25th Sep 1891]
