This is the Last Will & Testament

Of me William ANDREWS of Forthington in the County of Dorset Victualler made and published this Eighth day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy in manner and form following that is to say.

First: I Will and direct that all my just debts be forthwith paid and discharged

Also: I give devise and bequeath unto David DOLLING of Froome within the Town of Dorchester in the said County of Dorset Dairyman and Charles PITFIELD of Forthington aforesaid Yeoman and to their heirs forever All that my Messuage Dwelling House stable and Garden with its appurtenances situate lying and being in Durn Lane in the parish of All Saints in Dorchester aforesaid In Trust nevertheless that they the said Daniel DOLLING and Charles PITFIELD or the survivor of them or their heirs or assigns of such survivor Do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease sell and dispose of the same and place out the monies arising thereby and all other my moneys from time to time upon interest on such securities as they or the survivor of them shall think fit and can procure for the value and apply the interest and produce thereof towards the Education and maintenance of my daughter Hannah ANDREWS until she shall attain her age of twenty one years or be married which shall first happen and then to pay over the principal money and all Interest thereof which shall be then in their hands (after such Education and Maintenance is paid and discharged) unto the said Hannah ANDREWS

Also: I give unto John ANDREWS my father, John ANDREWS my brother, George EKINS and Edward SYMES my brothers in Law all my clothes, Linen and apparel of all sorts to be equally divided between them

Also: All the rest residue and remainder of my Real and Personal estate whatsoever I give and bequeath unto the said Daniel DOLLING and Charles PITFIELD In Trust nevertheless that they the said Daniel DOLLING and Charles PITFIELD Do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease sell and dispose of the value and place out the money arising thereby and all other my monies from time to time at interest or such securities as they or the survivor of them shall think fit and can procure for the value and apply the Interest and proceed thereof towards the Education and Maintenance of the said Hannah ANDREWS until she shall attain her age of 21 years or be married which shall first happen and then to pay over the principal money and all Interest thereof which shall then be in their hands (after such Education and maintenance is paid and discharged)unto my said daughter Hannah ANDREWS whom I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint sole executrix of this my Last Will and Testament

And I do hereby appoint the said Daniel DOLLING and Charles PITFIELD Guardians and Trustees of and for the said Hannah ANDREWS my Executrix during her minority and direct that they shall deduct and reimburse themselves out of my said personal estate all costs charges and expenses whatsoever which they or either of them shall bear pay or be put unto in the execution of the trust hereby in them reposed and that they shall not be answerable for any losses which may happen by any defective securities which they shall take

Know All Men by these presents that we Daniel DOLLING of Frome within the Town of Dorchester in the County of Dorset Dairyman and Charles PITFIELD of Forthington in the said County Yeoman are held and firmly bound unto John Walker Clerk Master of Arts Archdeacon of the Archdeaconry of Dorset lawfully constituted in the sum of five hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said John Walker or his certain attorney his executors Administrators or Assigns to make which payment well and truly we bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally for the whole our heirs and executors and administrators by this Present Sealed with our seals Dated Third day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bound Daniel DOLLING and Charles PITFIELD Testamentary Trustees and Administrators of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of William ANDREWS late of Forthington during the minority of Hannah ANDREWS the lawful daughter and executrix of the said deceased [---torn away] aforesaid deceased together with his last will and testament annexed do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come into the hands or possession or knowledge of them the said Daniel DOLLING and Charles PUITFIELD or the hands and possession of any person or persons for them And the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Court of the Archdeacon of Dorset on or before the last day of May next ensuing And also do and shall truly perform and fulfil the last will and testament of the said deceased by paying his debts and legacies so far as his goods chattels and credits will thereto extend and the law charge them And further do make and render a true and just account of the Administration in the premises when that shall be thereto lawfully required And Lastly do at all times hereafter acquit discharge save harmless and indemnify the said John Walker and all his officers and ministers against any person or persons whatsoever having or pretending to have any right title or interest in any of the said goods chattels and credits Then the obligation above written to be void and of none effect or else to stand remain and be in full force and virtue

Probate:
On the 3rd day of November 1770 This Will of William ANDREWS deceased was proved by the oaths of Daniel DOLLING and Charles PITFIELD Guardians and Trustees herein named to whom Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased was granted they being first duly sworn faithfully to administer the same -- Both Sworn this 3rd of Nov 1770 before me John HUBBOCK Surrogate

Genealogical Notes:-

(1). William ANDREWS married Sarah DOLLAND at Holy Trinity Church Dorchester on 22nd July 1760 and settled in Fordington to live

(2). William & Sarah had two children: John ANDREWS baptised at St Georges church Fordington on 22nd August 1762 and buried at St Peters in Dorchester on 11th November 1762 and Hannah ANDREWS baptised St Georges Fordington on 18th September 1763. Hannah was therefore 7 years old at the death of her father.

(3) Sarah the wife of William ANDREWS was buried at St Peters Church Dorchester on 9th April 1769

(4) William ANDREWS widower the subject of this Will was buried at St Peters Church Dorchester on 24th October 1770

(5) Hannah ANDREWS was married by Licence at St Georges Church fordington when she was 17 years old to William SQUIBB and would therefore have required the consent of her Guardians

(6) An Edward SIMMS married by Banns to Phabe [Phoebe] ANDREWS at All Saints Church Dorchester on 7th Oct 1759
