Whereas complaint has been made by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Beaminster unto us whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace, (whereof one is of the Quorum) for the said County of Dorset. THAT Ann Bartlett Widow aged about fifty years together with her three children namely Mary aged about 15 years, Elizabeth aged about 11 years and Sarah aged about 7 years have lately intruded themselves into your said Parish of Beaminster there to inhabit as your Parishioners contrary to the laws relating to the settlement of the Poor, and are become chargeable to the said Parish of Beaminster. Upon due examination and enquiry made into the Premises by us the said Justices, it appears unto us and we accordingly adjudge that the said Ann Bartlett Widow, and Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah her children are become chargeable unto the said Parish of Beaminster and that the last legal Place of Settlement of the said Ann Bartlett Widow, and Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah her children was and is in the Parish of Stratton aforesaid, in the County of Dorset.
These to order and require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Beaminster aforesaid, that you or some of you do forthwith remove and convey the said Ann Bartlett Widow, and Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah her children from your said Parish of Beaminster to the said Parish of Stratton and them deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some or one of them, together with this our warrant or order, or a true Copy thereof; whereby they are likewise required in His Majesty's Name, and by virtue of the statutes in such case made, forthwith to receive the said Ann Bartlett Widow, and Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah her children into the said Parish of Stratton and provide for them as their own Parishioners.
Given under our Hands and Seals the Eighth Day of September in the Year of our Lord 1823.
