ITEM: I hereby leave and give and bequeath and hereby charge my -----effects in Corton Denham with the -----of one shilling for works to the poor of the Parish of Castleton aforesaid to buy them penny white loaves to be delivered them by the Officers of the said Parish in the afore said Parish Church every Sunday over from henceforth, but if the said Parish Officers do neglect or misapply this Charity gift then and immediately after such neglect or misapplication my will is ---and I do hereby give and bequeath the said Charity gift to the poor of the Parish of Sandford Orcas in the County of Somerset to find them bread to Parishioners in the manner aforesaid.

ITEM: The gift of the Right Honourable John , Earl of Bristol to the poor of this Parish by the last will and testament. (Viz)
I give to the poor of the Parish of Castleton in the County of Dorset the sum of one hundred pounds to be continued there as a stock to be lett out at interest from time to time on good security (which shall be renewed yearly) by ye Minister, Churchwardens and overseers of the Poor of said Parish for ye time being and ye yearly interest, income and Profit thereof to be distributed and paid by them amongst the poorest and most needful persons of ye said Parish, as they by consent of ye Manor of Castleton for ye time being shall think fit, but not Leson the poor Rates of the said Parish.

Whereas in this register in the years 1735-1737-1739 and 1740 it is recorded that some that they are of this Parish, now let it be remembered that this was not included to acknowledge them to be legal parishioners of this place in case they should ever stand in lieu of relief but was done upon no other account than because such people at the time of registering were Inhabitants in this Parish in order to avoid any expense which such registering might hereafter bring upon this Parish of Castleton - We the Ministers, Churchwardens and overseers of the Poor of the said Parish have thought it necessary to insert this and to set our hands to the same this 13th day of July in the year of Our Lord1740.

ITEM:
Be it remembered in 1746 the Bayliff of Mrs. RUDDOCK, Landholder and also occupier of a meadow in the Parish of Castleton in the County of Dorset called the Marsh, came to the Rev. Digby SHUTTLEWORTH who served as Curate of Castleton at that time for his father desired him in the name of Mrs. RUDDOCK to take the Tythe of the said Meadow in kind. The said SHUTTLEWORTH went accordingly and the Tythe was set out for the use of his said father in the presence of William WEED Parish Clerk and Joseph DODGE - Glover-of Sherborne in the said County of Dorset.
Witness our hands this 23rd. Day of October in the year of our Lord 1746.
