*** The church at St Ann's church Radipole has a glass framed list of Rectors and shows George Thorne there in 1641, In Hutchins history of Dorset he is shown as being Rector from 1651 - 1660; It is understood that he was in fact there until 1662 when he was ejected for his nonconformity following the Act of Unifority in 1662. George Thorne later ministered to his congregation, many of whom had abandoned St Ann's when he left, from three cottages in St Nicholas Street, a chapel later being built there. The 'Independents' later moved to the new memorial chapel in Gloucester Street in 1864 where they worshipped for the next 107 years. When the Gloucester Street Chapel was demolished sheltered housing flats for the elderly were built and it is named George Thorne House.
