Unitarian Church of Poole – Burials
Human remains from burials in the old Unitarian Church in Poole (including Hill Street) were relocated in 1970 and a report
is lodged at the Public Records Office under RG37/124. This record has been microfilmed by the Church of Latter Day Saints
see film 1818111. Whilst the vast majority were unidentifiable a few inscriptions were found and are detailed below.
Grave 6: Earth burial one human remains at a depth of 6feet 6inches in lead coffin
Mrs JOHANNAH LEDGLEY died 19th February 1823 aged 76 years.
Grave 7: Brick grave six human remains at depth of 6feet - Metal plate recovered
GEORGE BALSTON Died February 1852 aged 42 years
Grave 14: Brick grave three human remains at depth 7feet 6inches - stone inscription
ELIZABETH wife of HENRY KEARLEY died October 19th 1816 aged 73; also
ELIZABETH wife of JACOB MANSON who died August 13th 1819 aged 53; also
JAMES son of the above JACOB and ELIZABETH MANSON who departed this life 10th November 1821 aged 19 years

SUSANNA DURELL died 1st June 1818 aged 82 years
Grave 55: Tomb five human remains [1 Adult + 4 infants] at depth 7feet - plate inscribed
THOMAS GARFITT died 30 March 1831 Aged 55 years

MARY WALDRON died 10th July 1829
Grave 72: Brick grave six human remains at depth 6feet 6inches – stone inscription
ROBERT BAYLYS who died February 20th 176 aged 92 years, beneath are deposited the remains of
GEORGE HAYWOOD who died January 17th 1832 aged 63 years; also
JANE ELIZABETH HAYWARD wife of the above who died December 18th 1843 aged 68 years; also
MARY BALSTON daughter of the above who died 26th November 1846 aged 33 years

ST JAMES POOLE – Stray Banns

This is to certify that banns of marriage between DANIEL CHERRETT of the Parish of St james Clerkenwell London bachelor and ELIZA JOYNER of the parish of St James Town and County of Poole spinster were published in the Parish Church of St James aforesaid on the three Sundays underwritten, that is to say
