Dorset Strays in Newfoundland
Jill Marshall has compiled this list of Newfoundland weddings involving Dorset folk. These are from Jill's own transcriptions of Vital Statistics copies, not the original parish records, though in most respects they are generally the same. In Newfoundland, civil registration did not begin until 1891, and in the 1940s, the Newfoundland Government asked ministers to make copies of marriages and baptisms up to 1891 so that they would have these in their files, not just in the church parish records. As always, transcripts should be used as a guide only and the original should be consulted for verification.
