BURIALS 1814-1955
Transcribed from the Parish Registers on Microfilm MIC/R/585 at the Dorset History Centre and donated to the OPC by Sally Beadle
Because of the very rocky ground at the Mapperton All Saints Churchyard, Mapperton burials, with very few exceptions, took place at Netherbury. The Parish of Mapperton paid an annual fee of 3d for the privilege. There is a vault under the chancel of the church with an inscription on a brass plate which reads –
“The Sepulchre of Mary the wife of Richard Brodrepp Esqr. Hewn out of this rock of her inheritance for them and their posterity Anno 1650.”
The vault holds the remains of eight members of the POWELL, BRODREPP and FOX families.
