Blandford Town Criers

1859 - 1889 Charles ROLLS born at St Lucia, West Indies son of Thomas ( later Sgt Major 5th Regt of Foot ) and Charlotte Rolls. Married Elizabeth Bartlett at Blandford in 1847 - worked as a tailor and died at Blandford in 1890.

1890 - 1915 Tom BARTLETT born at Blandford in 1871 son of James Henry a Printer and Rebecca Bartlett. Married Flora Rose at Blandford in 1890 when he is noted as Town Crier aged 19 ! Also worked as a printer and bill poster. He died at Blandford in 1923.

1923 - 1939 W. PEERS I can find nothing definite about him except he lived at Orchard St. Blandford whilst Town Crier.

1982 - 1990 - James George LANGRIDGE ( Jim ) born in Sussex in 1912 son of Joseph and Ester Langridge. Married Joan Dare at Lewisham in 1938, then Phyllis R Gosneil at Ilford in 1959. James died at Blandford in 2008.
