Will of Maximilian GOLLOP, Woollen Draper of Dorchester

The Last Will and Testament of me Maximilian GOLLOP of Dorchester in the county of Dorset Woollen Draper being aged & infirm in body but of sound and perfect mind & memory (Thanks be to God)


First I give: unto my daughter Martha WHITE Widow the sum of thirty pounds to be paid her by my Executrix hereafter named in the first three years next after my decease by equal portions

Whereas : I am interested & estated in the Messuage Burgage or Tenement with the appurtenances I now dwell in situate in the parish of St Peters within the Borough of Dorchester aforesaid for the Remainder of a term of fourscore and nineteen years If I the said Maximilian GALLOP, Jane GALLOP my daughter, and Thomas HAVELLAND (Son of my Brother in Law Thomas HAVELLAND) or any of us shall so long live, Now my Will and meaning is hereby declared that (immediately from and after my decease) Elizabeth my now Wife and her assigns shall hold enjoy receive and take to her and their own proper use all the Rents Issues & Profits of the said Messuage and Premises for so many years of the then remaining term as shall efflux and run out in the life time of my said Wife, determinable as aforesaid

    And: from and after the decease of my said Wife (my said daughter Jane her surviving) My Will and meaning is then hereby further declared that my said daughter Jane shall thenceforth hold enjoy receive and take to her and her assigns own proper use the Rents Issues & Profits of the said Messuage & Premises for so many years of the then remaining term as shall run out in the life time of my said daughter Jane
    And: in case the said Thomas HAVILLAND the son shall happen to survive my said daughter Jane then I give the said Messuage & Premises unto my Grandson John HOSKINS and his assigns for so many years of the then remaining term as shall run out in the life time of the said Thomas HAVILLAND the son

Lastly I do hereby constitute and make Elizabeth my said wife Executrix & Residuary Legatee of this my said Last Will and Testament Revoking all former Wills & Testaments by me made

In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the eleventh Day of May in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Nineteen

Genealogical Notes:-

(1). Maximilian GOLLOP was buried at St Peters Church Dorchester on 21st July 1719. He married three times having 4 children by his first wife. None seem to have survived him although I can only trace the burial of two of them. Jane GOLLOP mentioned above was the 2nd child by his 2nd wife also called Jane, but have not been able to locate their marriage. Their 1st child John GOLLOP died in infancy leaving Jane as his sole heir. Elizabeth GOLLOP (nee HAVILLAND) his Execurix was his thrid wife.
