WHYTE: In the name of God Amen:

I Elizabeth WHITE Widow of Fordington within the peculiar of the Dean of Sarum being sick in body but perfect of memory (thanks be unto God therefore) do make my last will and testament the xviijth [18th] day of October Anno Domini 1607 in manner as followeth:

First: I commend my soul into the hands of heavenly father, thou that didst fashion me of the earth and hast given thy son to die for my sins and for the sins of his people & further for they sons sake have mercy upon me & forgive my sins & (c sme?).

As concerning my body I bequeath it unto the earth from whence it came & to be buried within the Christian burial of Fordington :

Item: I give unto the parish church of Fordington 6 shillings and 8 pence;

Item: I give to Margaret & Ellenor the two daughters of son-in-law Christopher WAYE ----- xxs [20s.] a piece [each].

Item: I give to Joan the daughter of Christpher WAYE ----- xiijs iiijd [13s. 4d]

Item: I give unto his four sons ----- xiijs iiijd [13s. 4d] a piece [each].

Item: I give to my Son-in-Law William WINSOR, his three children ----- xiijs & iiijd[13s. 4d] a piece [each].

Item: I give unto the five children of Roger WHITE, unto every one // of them ----- xiijs & iiijd[13s. 4d] a piece [each].

Item: I give unto Marie WINSOR one branded heifer.

Item: I give unto Thomasyn the daughter of William WINSOR one red sawkes? calf.

Item: I give unto my son Hammnett's child forty shillings (1) .

Item: I give unto John WINSOR the son of William WINSOR one bullock.

Item: I give unto William WINSOR my Son-in-Law one acre of wheat & one of barley

Item: my will & command is that my son Hammonet [Hamnet] shall plough William WINSOR's land two years

Know all men by these presents that Hammonetum [Hamnet] WHITE of Fordington in the County of Dorset Husbandman is firmly bound unto the venerable ------- xvth [15th] day in the month of December in the 5th year of the reign of James 1 of England France and Ireland and 5th of Scotland AD 1607.

The condition of this present obligation is such that if the above bound Hamnet WHITE the executor named in the Last Will & Testament of Elizabeth WHITE late whilst she lived of Fordington in the County of Dorset deceased do well and truly satisfy content & pay or cause to be well and truly satisfied contented and paid all and singular the legacies gifts and bequests willed given and bequeathed in & by the last will and testament of the said deceased, according to the tenor effect and true meaning of the same, without all fraud, deceit or further delay that then this present obligation to be utterly frustrate void and of none effect or else to stand remain and abide in full power force weight effect and virtue.

Genealogical Notes:-

(1) Elizabeth WHITE nee BASCOMBE (d.1607) was the widow of John WHITE Senior (d.1600) who died 27th May 1600. Follow link to The WHITE Family of Fordington for an account of their lives and family.

(2). Hamnet WHITE was Elizabeth's 4th child and he married Cristian BARNES at FStG Church on 28th Feb 1607 and had a daughter Elizabeth WHITE baptised at St Georges Church on 1st Sep 1608. On the 15th Dec 1607 he was not only granted administration of his mothers estate as shown above but also the estates of his two brothers Robert WHITE and William WHITE Clerk.
