At a Meeting of His Majesty's Deputy Lieutenants of the said County of Dorset and Justices of the Peace of the same County held at the house known by the sign 'Antelope' in Dorchester in the said County for the Subdivision of Dorchester on Monday the First day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty One for carrying into further execution the Acts of Parliament lately made for the better ordering of the Militia Forces in the several Counties of that part of Great Britain called England.

It having been made appear unto us that the following Persons have been legally discharged from the Dorsetshire Regiment of Militia by reason of their having served their term of three years in the said Regiment and those which have been discharged being deemed incapable of Service in the said Militia and other men who have died since the last ballot to this time for this Subdivision. We do hereby pursuant to the power vested in us by Law allow of and confirm such deaths and discharges. Vizt Died and discharged in the District of Blandford in the said Subdivision of Dorchester

At a Meeting of His Majesty's Deputy Lieutenants of the said County of Dorset and Justices of the Peace of the same County held at the house known by the sign 'Antelope' in Dorchester in the said County for the Subdivision of Dorchester on Saturday twenty seventh day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty One for carrying into further execution the Acts of Parliament lately made for the better ordering of the Militia Forces in the several Counties of that part of Great Britain called England.

The following is the Names of persons which have appeared before us this day that have been chosen by lot to serve as Private Militia Men in the Dorsetshire Regiment of Militia or consented to serve substitutes for Persons so chosen and have now taken the oath and been enrolled to serve in the said Regiment for the term of three years agreeable to the Acts of Parliament in such case made and provided.

Substitute approved and sworn; James OLIVER Labourer of Upway as substitute for John TALBOT - age 19 height 5' 7" single

The above named James OLIVER was this day sworn and enrolled before us as a Private Militia Man in the Dorsetshire Regiment for the term of three years; Thomas GARRETT of Frampton has paid the penalty of Ten Pounds into the hands of Mr John WALLIS Clerk of this Subdivision; as likewise have David READ of West Chickerell, which is to be repaid him, if he provides a proper substitute by 11th July next and John TOM of Stowerpayne is allowed the same time to provide himself a substitute; John CHRISTOPHER of Cheselbourne who was enrolled as a substitute, but having a large family is hereby discharged & his paying Ten Pounds with which Mr WALLIS is devised to provide a proper man to serve in his stead - It appears Mr WALLIS yesterday provided a substitute at Beaminster for Thomas GARRETT of Dorchester Cabinet Maker (Vizt:) John QUANTICK of Somerton in the County of Somerset Labourer; John LUCKES of Wyke Regis having made default in not appearing this day a summons is to be issued against him - We allow and confirm the above, Witness our Hands Thomas GOULD; John MEECH; Thomas GUNDREY

At a Meeting of His Majesty's Deputy Lieutenants of the said County of Dorset and Justices of the Peace of the same County held at the house known by the sign 'Antelope' in Dorchester in the said County for the Subdivision of Dorchester on Saturday eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty One for carrying into further execution the Acts of Parliament lately made for the better ordering of the Militia Forces in the several Counties of that part of Great Britain called England.

It appearing unto us the following persons doth claim and have been legally discharged from the Dorsetshire Regiment of Militia by reason of their having served three years in the said Regiment or discharged being deemed incapable of Service in the said Militia or have been promoted to the Rank of a serjeant or died since the last Ballot for this Subdivision to this time - We do therefore pursuant to the Power vested in us by law hereby allow of and confirm the same Vizt: Died Discharged or promoted as aforesaid in the District of Blandford in the subdivision of Dorchester

We hereby order that Mr John WALLIS Clerk of this Subdivision do issue forth precepts under our hands to the several constables of the several Hundreds Boroughs and Liberty's which was ordered and settled at a general Meeting held the nineteenth day of December One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Nine to return their lists in this subdivision to require them to issue their precepts to the Petty Constables to return for His Majesty's Deputy Lieutenants at the Meeting held the 22nd day of this instant September for the said subdivision of Dorchester, Lists of Persons between the ages of eighteen and fifty years in their respective parishes Tything's and places as prescribed by the said Acts of Parliament And we do further order that the Meeting for this subdivision on Tuesday the said twenty second day of September he held at ' The Antelope" in Dorchester in the said county and that another meeting be held at the same place on saturday the twenty sixth day of September 1761 to swear the men now balloted - We allow and confirm the above proceedings Witness our Hands

At a Meeting of His Majesty's Deputy Lieutenants of the said County of Dorset and Justices of the Peace of the same County held at the house known by the sign 'Antelope' in Dorchester in the said County for the Subdivision of Dorchester on Tuesday twenty second day of September (being the first Tuesday in the week before Michaelmas) in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty One for carrying into further execution the Acts of Parliament lately made for the better ordering of the Militia Forces in the several Counties of that part of Great Britain called England.

The following is the number of persons returned by the Constables and Tythingmen within the several hundreds Boroughs Liberty's Parishes Tything's and Places in the subdivision of Dorchester. We allow and confirm the below and order that Mr John WALLIS do return the above lists at the next at the next General Meeting to be held for this County and we further order that the next Meeting for this Subdivision be held on Saturday next at the Antelope in Dorchester aforesaid as was ordered at the last Meeting for the said Subdivision - Witness our hands

The (illegible word) named Persons were sworn and enrolled before us to serve as Private Militia Men in the Dorchester Regiment for the term of three years -- David CASHER and John LUCKES who were chosen formerly was to have provided substitutes this day which they have not done, therefore time is allowed them to provide substitutes or pay the penalty of Ten Pounds each on or before the 7th October next and the same time is allowed for Robert BOWER of Stourpaine; John STRANGE of Stoke Wake; William LAMB of Charminster; Thomas NEWMAN of Portland; James BLANCHARD of Weymouth and James LOCK of Dorchester We allow and confirm the above proceedings Witness our Hands
