The register of the chapelry began in 1508 but is imperfect between the years 1599 and 1613 and between 1675 and 1696. WINTERBORNE KINGSTON (or KINGSTON WINTEBOURNE) is a parish, in the Eastern division of the county, Wareham petty sessional division. Bere Regis hundred, Blandford union and county court district, Whitchurch rural deanery first portion, Dorset archdeaconry and Salisbury diocese, 6½ miles south -south -west from Blandford, and 2 north from Bere Regis. The church of St. Nicholas is an ancient edifice, in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, and north aisle, with a square embattled tower: it was restored by public subscription in 1873, from the designs of the late G. E. STREET R.A. when the north aisle and a memorial window to Mrs. MICHEL were added: there are also two stained windows in memory of the BESENT family. The register began 1598, but is imperfect between the years 1599 and 1613 and between 1675 and 1696. The living is a chapelry, annexed to the vicarage of Bere Regis, joint gross yearly value £535, with residence, in the gift of Balliol College, Oxford, and held since 1876 by the Rev. John Frere LANGFORD M.A. of that college, who resides at Bere Regis. Here is a Congregational and also a Wesleyan chapel. The principal landowner's are J. C. MANSEL-PLEYDELL Esq. D.L., JP. who is lord of the manor, J. S. W. S. E. DRAX esq. and the Rev. N. BOND B.A., J. P. The soil is chalky loam, subsoil chalk. The chief crops are wheat, oats and barley.

The area is 2,508 acres; rateable value, £2,671, the population in 1881 was 520.

And held since 1919 by the rev. B. Cuthbert Vere HODGE M. A. of that college, who resides at Bere Regis. Here is a Congregational Chapel in 1845 with 130 sittings, and a Wesleyan chapel in 1845. The principal landowners are Harry M. PLYDELL esq. who is lord of the manor, and John W. BOND esq. The chief crops are wheat, oats and barley. There is 2,559 acres; rateable value £2,156, the population in 1911 was 383.

Percy Wolryche Taylor M.A. of Lincoln College, Oxford, rural dean of Bere Regis, who is also rector of Winterborne Tomson, and resides at Bere Regis.  There is a Congregational chapel, built in 1845, with 130 sittings, and a Wesleyan chapel, built in 1872.  There is a memorial erected in the village to the memory of the men of the parish who fell in the Great War, 1914-18, and also a tablet in the church. The principal landowner's are Mrs. ARNOLD- FORSTER J.P. and Mrs. PLEYDELL-BAILSTON, who are ladies of the manor, and Rear-Adml. Hon. Reginald. Aylmer R. Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax O.B., D.S.O., J.P.   The soil is chalky loam; subsoil, chalk.  The chief crops are wheat, oats and barley.   The area is 2,559 acres; the population in 1921 was 314.
