Dorset To Wit – To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Puddletown in the said County, and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Stratton in the same County and to each and every of them.

Upon the Complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Puddletown aforesaid in the said County of Dorset, unto us whose Names are hereunto set and Seal affixed, being two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Dorset, and one of us of the Quorum, that William Everett and William his son (by Betty his former wife deceased) aged eleven years and Anne his present wife and Sarah their daughter aged about nine weeks have come to inhabit in the said Parish of Puddletown not having gained a legal settlement there, nor producing any Certificate owning themselves to be settled elsewhere, and are likely to be chargeable to the said Parish of Puddletown. We the said Justices upon due Proof made thereof,
as well upon the Examination of the Premises, upon Oath, as otherwise adjudge the same to be true; and we do likewise adjudge that the lawful settlement of the said William Everett William his son (by his said former wife) and the said Anne his present wife and Sarah their daughter is in the Parish of Stratton in the said County of Dorset.

We Do therefore require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Puddletown or some or one of you to convey the said William Everett, William his son (by his said former wife) and Anne his present wife and Sarah their Daughter from and out of your said Parish of Puddletown to the said Parish of Stratton and them to deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one of them, together with our Order, or a true Copy thereof, (at the same time shewing to them the Original) And we do also hereby require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Stratton to receive and provide for them as Inhabitants of your Parish.

Given under our Hands and Seals the 26th Day of May in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and ninety two.
