Parish of Moreton

WILL OF WILLIAM FRAMPTON 1687 (proved at the PCC in 1690)

Painted on a stone on the west wall of the church, perhaps salvaged from the previous church, is a notice of a charitable bequest in the Will of William Frampton for the poor of the Parish:

William Frampton of Moreton, Esquire by Will, bearing date the fifteenth day of Nov.br., One Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty Seven directed that his Executors should lay out the
sum of One Hundred Pounds in the purchase of Lands of Inheritance to be settled to the intent that the yearly profits thereof might be forever used and bestowed for binding and
putting forth to be Apprentices such Poor Children as should be born or otherwise settled in the Parish of Moreton. And he appointed Gerard Napier, Thomas Chaffin, Henry
Hemmings, William Hull & Francis Hull his Executors.

The Testator died the fifth day of February, One Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty Nine.
