TUDOR SUBSIDY 1545

A subsidy was a form of taxation which was often taken in times of need, such as to finance wars. The subsidy of 1545 was paid by everyone who was assessed as having land valued over £1 or goods valued over £5, however many people seem to have avoided this assessment on land.
