register dates from 1558. The living is a rectory, yearly value £160 with residence, in the gift of

Mrs Bower, of Fontmell Parva, and held by the Rev. Edward Walton Fox, B.A., of Wadham

College, Oxford. Here is a small National school. There is no manor. The principal landowners

The church of St. Michael is a stone edifice in the Perpendicular style, and consists of chancel, nave, north aisle, south porch, embattled tower with pinnacles, containing 5 bells: one was added in 1747; with the exception of the tower the whole was rebuilt in 1858, architecturally in accordance with the ancient handsome tower: the east window is small but handsome, and is said to be an adaptation from a window in Westminster Abbey: upon the underside of the beam in the tower which supports the belfry floor a crozier and a beadroll are sculpted: the font is Norman and ancient. The register dates from 1558. The living is a rectory, yearly value £160, with residence, in the gift of H S Bower esq. of Fontmell Parva, and held since 1867 by the Rev. Edward Walter Fox, B.A., of Wadham College, Oxford, and formerly a chaplain in the Royal Navy. There is no manor. The church of St Michael is a stone edifice in the Perpendicular style, and consists of chancel, nave, north aisle, south porch, embattled western tower with pinnacles,  containing 5 bells: one was added in 1747, two were re-cast in 1886: with the exception of the tower the wholestructure was rebuilt in 1858, architecturally in accordance with the ancient handsome tower: the east window is small but handsome, and is said to be an adaptation from a window in Westminster Abbey: upon the underside of the beam in the tower which supports the belfry floor a crozier and a beadroll are sculpted: the font is Norman and ancient: there are 200 sittings. High Eggardon, where there are the remains of an extensive roman encampment, and Loders Land

were transferred to this parish from Litton Cheney by Local Government Board Order, in 1884.
