The Last Will & Testament of ESTHER GARLAND (1825) Widow of Bridport

I Esther Garland of Bridport in the County of Dorset widow do make my last Will and Testament as follows that is to say

First I give to my Daughter Sarah Garland All my Wearing Apparell of every kind

All the Rest and Remainder of my Property being now about sixty Pounds and at present in the Bridport Savings Bank I do hereby give to Stephen Hussey of Bridport aforesaid Cordwainer not for his own Use but In Trust that he the said Stephen Hussey do at my death call in receive and then distribute and divide the same (after Payment of my Debts and Funeral Expenses) equally between my Son Edward Garland my Son William Garland my said Daughter Sarah Garland my Grandson John Dean and Sarah the Wife of my Son Thomas Garland as Tenants in Common whose respective individual Receipts shall be good and sufficient discharge and discharges to him the said Stephen Hussey notwithstanding their or either of their present or future Coverture or Covertures and I do hereby appoint the said Stephen Hussey sole Executor of this my Will In Trust and for the Purposes aforesaid whom I hereby authorise to pay out of the same hereinbefore given to Sarah the Wife of my Son Thomas a debt of about twenty shillings now owing from her to Sarah Garland my Sister in Law and with which share I charge the Payment of such debt And I hereby authorise my said Executor to reimburse himself all such Costs as he may be put unto by reason of the aforesaid Trust

In Witness whereof I the said Esther Garland have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand and Seal this twenty second day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty

I Esther Garland of Bridport Widow in perfect health and memory Do give to my Son William Garland the Gold Ring that I now wear Also to my Grandson John Dean the Dressing Table

Whereof I the said Esther Garland have set my Hand this nineteenth day of September in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty five
